Set between the famous racecourse and the A77 on the outskirts of Ayr, this is an honest and open parkland course that plays away from the clubhouse and dips into a rolling valley.
The River Ayr borders the southern end of the course, with its tributary burns adding some interest to the opening stretch of holes.
At just over 5,600 yards, Dalmilling isn't overly testing in terms of length, so rounds here won't take longer than three and a half hours - that's how golf should be played.
Where it lacks in distance, though, the course makes up for it with a few tricky, blind shots and some tight bunkers.
Overall, a solid day on the course is guaranteed here, and for the cheap green fee you can't go wrong.
