The acclaimed architect James Braid designed Blairmore and Strone back in 1896. This nine-hole course is set on the hillside above Strone and in consequence is undulating with large areas of deep rough bordering most fairways, providing a fun but fierce test for golfers of all abilities. The third hole in particular can catch out the unwary; the approach is steep with an equally steep left to right slope. The fifth hole, whilst shorter, has a similar right to left slope - so be warned. Players can enjoy fine views of Loch Long, Holy Loch and the Firth of Clyde throughout their rounds.
